Another Use for "Do I Make You Proud?"
I was reading an article from About.com in their Wedding section, which features a list of Non-Cheesy Father/Daughter Wedding Dance tunes, set up in various styles of music...

Much to my joy and surprise, in the COUNTRY category, is "Do I Make You Proud?"!!!!

Quote:Country Father Daughter Dance Songs

I Hope You Dance – Lee Ann Womack
This New Country song captures the best of a parent's advice to their child

Through the Years – Kenny Rogers

Do I Make You Proud – Taylor Hicks

There'll You'll Be – Faith Hill
Take a listen to the lyrics of this song. It's got a touching sentiment, but I believe it is about a father who has passed away. Still, that's far from overt so it could be used as a father-daughter dance.

I Loved Her First – Heartland

Here is the link to the entire list of suggestions:

"'Radio play is a lucky break. You win by building fan support, on the road. Giving value for the money… And they love you because of your music, not your chart success.'" Lefsetz Letter, 11/19/08

LOL I'm not sure how that's categorized as country??? It does seem hugely popular for weddings, graduations, etc. even 3 years later. I can only imagine how well Places I've Been would have done for those occasions! Smile
