Kris Allen's New Single

RE: Kris Allen's New Single
Cas and I listened and had the same reaction - we were bored about halfway through. I do think it's very radio friendly and will probably get a lot of play. Repetitive is in.

I do hope the rest of the CD is better.

Soul to me is a feeling, a lot of depth and being able to bring to the surface that which is happening inside, to make the picture clear. The song doesn't matter. It's just the emotion, the way it affects other people. - Aretha Franklin

I agree with Tricia and Cas. Catchy enough, but doesn't go anywhere. I was able to listen to the interview, and I love Kris's low key humor, he's not the class clown, he's the guy who sat next to you in the back of the room and made quiet wisecracks to his neighbor.

I really liked the beginning but agree with you guys-too repetitive. It sounds very current so I think he'll do well and get radio play. A lot of the new songs sound very alike but they're popular anyway...

I absolutely love Like Like We're Dying. The more I hear it, the more I love it. It's very catchy.

Sometimes I think, it's just a simple thing
I close my eyes and I realize all I really need
Is a love I had, and the love I had to give
Cause anything else there is – is insignificant
In this tiny life.

Doubt anyone will be surprised that the song is not my cup of tea . . but beyond that formula pop sound . . I don't think it does Kris's voice any favors either.
Like what I've read about him . . seems like a really nice kid . . hope he does well.

RE: Kris Allen's New Single
I don't care for this song but I really like Kris, his voice, and his style. Got an e-mail alert from Amazon about his CD release on the 17th and I'm sure there will be a few great tunes on it for me to download.

Watching this just makes me a little mad (again) about Taylor, as winner, not getting an official music video made (by TPTB) for his first single in Dec '06.

Music is what feelings sound like.

I wouldn't be mad until we hear the real story.
I always had the impression Taylor chose not to spend the money on the video and used it to finance the first tour. Remember it all comes out of the advance.

I'm not convinced videos are the marketing force they once were. I don't think there will be sales surge for Kris Allen's single just because he now has a video. It wasn't the case for David Cook last year, if I recall.

There was plenty of Taylor video out there on the web -- Rehearsals.com, AOL Sessions, and AI Tour/Shadow show fan videos.

Which is not to say there weren't other things that were not done for Taylor resulting in meager radio play. He chose not to have TPTB manage him, there was a price. Someday we'll know the whole story.

Don't care for it either but it won't stop me from checking out the rest of the cd. Love his style and voice just hoping it is more prominent on the rest of the cd.
