Soul to me is a feeling, a lot of depth and being able to bring to the surface that which is happening inside, to make the picture clear. The song doesn't matter. It's just the emotion, the way it affects other people. - Aretha Franklin |

RE: Birmingham '09 Check Ins,Recaps,etc.
God I love this thread!!
![]() I thought this was really cool from Facebook:Rick Carter I want to take this time to say thanks to some really great people I had a chance to meet this weekend. Taylor Hicks's Soul Patrol. Members were in Birmingham from all over the world. I was flattered at two separate shows with their sincere appreciation of my music and their devotion to their Idol. After being in this business over 40 years I can honestly say thats cool! BTW I campaigned as much as I could for Shadow Show in CT. I did hand Taylor his birthday card with a little gift in it-hopefully he'll be curious enough to open the card. Inside I asked re Shadow Show in Dec. in Ct. Also, one of his friends greeted me (he remembered me from B'ham last time-very cool-he was such a nice guy) and I asked him to please put a bug in Taylor's ear about how thrilled we would all be.

Good work Liz!!! Taylor needs an army of "bugs" in his ear.
![]() I will only be going to CT if there is a shadow show, not if there is only Grease. If there is no shadow gig, I need to wait until June to see Taylor in Boston...that will stink but that's reality. Very cool to read what Rick Carter said!!! RE: Birmingham '09 Check Ins,Recaps, etc.
I'm planning on going to CT regardless of the situation. I had hoped that the NESP gals would make this the holiday weekend and it wouldn't matter if the shadow show happened or not. However, I don't think that's the case. But, I'm still planning on going.
I think I'm almost ready to talk a little bit about Birmingham.

RE: Birmingham '09 Check Ins,Recaps,etc.
I have such mixed feelings re CT. Definitely want an NESP holiday party
and of course want to see Taylor I just think it's way too close to the holidays for most to travel and spend cash just to see Grease for another time. A Shadow show would make it special so I could rationalize it all I think I'd rather do an NESP party earlier in month if no concert JMO Okay back to B'ham talk
Barbie, my video was from Friday-I was to left of stage Sat. still sorry that I missed you! Talk Amy! I barely saw you guys the whole weekend so it would be fun to hear about your adventures ![]() "No love, no friendship can cross the path of our destiny without leaving some mark on it forever." RE: Birmingham '09 Check Ins,Recaps, etc.
Where should I start? With Grease on Thursday night? At first my cohorts were apprehensive about going, but once we got there & Dominic started in with the warm-up, we were hooked. The crowd was absolutely AMAZING! I was so glad we went to see it first hand. They were dancing & singing along to Dominic's numbers & really participating well. Once the show started, you could feel the buzz in the air. When it was time for Beauty School Dropout and the cone, some were still surprised, and that cracks me up. The reception Taylor got was so wonderful. He hammed it up extraordinarily well & received a standing ovation once his number was done. Very few left their seats before the encore of Seven Mile Breakdown. Everyone was standing & clapping along and then they made a direct beeline for the lobby to purchase the CD. He stayed and signed for quite a while and took a break in the middle to go greet Mrs. Riley, the Governor's wife. Deb & Mary Beth had their CDs signed while I just hung back and snapped a few photos & observed.
When Taylor left, we headed back to our hotel, which was attached to the BJCC. We changed our clothes and went down into the hotel bar for a late night snack & drinks. We walked in and lo & behold, there was half the Grease cast hanging out. We took a seat at a corner table & placed our order. The longer we sat there, more cast members showed up, including Clay. It turned out that they were having a party for their guitar player as it was his last night. Most of them were out on the deck outside the bar but they came and went for most of the night. They were great and several of them stopped to say Hello.
Sometimes I think, it's just a simple thing I close my eyes and I realize all I really need Is a love I had, and the love I had to give Cause anything else there is – is insignificant In this tiny life. |

.
Amy . . how cool that you got to mingle a bit with the cast . . something a little outside the box for sure. Think being part of a touring company must be one of the most fascinating jobs in the world of entertainment. Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and cannot remain silent - Victor Hugo - You can be passionate about the music without all of the other crap - a wise wizard - |
